Elgin Historical Museum Tour

March 23 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

The Fox Valley group is getting together on March 23rd for an exciting day of fun and information.
This event does NOT include a road tour.

IF you plan on attending this event, please let Dan Sobczyk know ASAP so he can have a head count.
Have your check to him by March 19.  You can also pay him the day of the event, but he needs a head count ASAP!

We will meet at the Elgin Historical Museum at 360 Park St. in Elgin.
We plan to begin our group event at 10:45 AM.
This museum has tons of interactive exhibits on the history of the area with an emphasis on the city of Elgin, the Elgin watch company and the Elgin Road races.

We will be hearing a speaker talking about those Elgin Road Races.
Beginning in 1910, many leading drivers and mechanics competed here in grueling tests of speed and endurance that contributed to the development of the modern automobile.  Manufacturers were attracted to these races because the course had no cross roads, steep hills, railroad tracks, or population centers to reduce the car’s speed.  The race’s success was enhanced by proximity to Chicago and the cooperation of area farmers.  Come and learn more about this little-known piece of automotive history.

Afterward, the group will repair to Danny’s Pizza at 231 Douglas Ave in Elgin for lunch and conversation. Lunch is on your own.
Come and join us!

The cost of this event is $15 per person which includes the museum entrance and the speaker fee.
This event is for the Fox Valley Chapter members and any of their guests.
